I mentioned on Twitter that I’d been to the doc because I’ve got a dodgy knee. If you kneed ( <— see what I did there?) to know what’s wrong with my knee… it started clicking and locking up. It’s quite funny if you’re not me. and if you are me, which I am, then it’s a right royal pain in the… er… knee! Obviously.
Anyway after Debs (no longer on twitter) asked me what caused the dodgyness, and I replied judo, rugby, running and old age (which was Debs’ original suggestion to me. Tsk!) I asked her whether she had any dodgy body parts (which out of context sounds a bit stalkerish).
So after comparing ailments I thought it might be fun to give you a full list and then ask you for your list.
I did think of turning this into a meme, but I don’t like being hated, so if you want to memefy it, please go ahead.
OK. Here goes…
- short sighted
- starting to get near sighted
- dodgy knee
- dodgy left shoulder
- slight hearing loss in left ear
- stiff back
- a verruca
- never ending sore throat
- hammer toes
- too many filled molars
- I chipped a bone in my thumb when I punched someone
- cat allergy (not all cats)
I think that’s it. There might be more. When you live with these things you tend to forget about them.
So what’s wrong with you?

Overweight,
cervical vertebrae bone spurs,
allergic to too many things,
two teeth gone, rest extensively filled or capped,
herniated lumbar disk,
hair is more gray than anything,
have to wear bifocals
Other than a broken arm when I was a kid, a couple of torn rotator cuff injuries and torn trapezius, I’ve not had any severe injuries or unusual wear and tear. Al of my joint seem to be in great shape.
I started slow jogging last week and jogged 40 minutes today.
No memes…..
Mike, a brilliant list!!
).
You easliy beat me with that list (not that it’s a competition
You’ve reminded me that I chipped a bone in my thumb when I punched someone… so I’ll add that retrospectively.
Enjoy the jogging!!
I think it just comes with age. At 58 1/2, I’m lucky there isn’t more “dodgy” issues.
I do enjoy the jogging/running. I had intended to limit it until I got the weight down more, but, last week, I paced myself really well and just kept on going much longer than I expected — twice. Yesterday was really hard to get going for the first five minutes or so — then it got easier — and enjoyable.
That must be it then Mike, you have a few years on me. Not to rub salt into the wounds you listed… I’ve got another 16 years to try and outdo you. I’ll bet I can pick up something failry special in that time!! (Again, not that it’s a competition
)
Well, right at this moment I am sitting here grinding my teeth because of an issue caused by a dentist years ago. Like you say, I don’t even realize I’m doing it most of the time.
I started wearing glasses to read a few years ago and now feel like I can’t be without them. Fortunately, they look cute on me.
I have generalized pain all the time, mainly from stress, in my neck and upper back. I also have a problem with my arm (elbow) that I need to see an orthopedic about. I think it resulted from working out but can’t pinpoint an exact time and place it happened.
What struck me was your “never ending sore throat.” I have a chronic sore throat too, which I believe is from burning my adrenals out several years ago. Working on getting on bio-identical hormones that will hopefully help that as well as my mental craziness from (clearing throat) perimenopause. Sorry to bring up such a delicate subject but you asked…
Otherwise, I’m in great shape!
Anne, you have some cracking aliments. Not that we’re all boasting about our ailments or anything
I need to research the bio-identical hormones to get fully up to speed though.
And burning the adrenals out sounds brutal!! Eek.
I’d say I’m generally in good shape given that I hate doing any sports.
Aching cheekbones from a break a few years ago.
Allergy to avocados and quorn.
Teeth full of root canals.
Infected toe nail.
Aching shoulders from all the computer work.
Itchy skin after showers (despite research no joy re cause.)
Early meno***se dare I say it! Think its oestrogen burn out.
Getting quite short sighted.
Nail biter.
Trish that’s a great list. I don’t envy you the infected toe nail but I wouldn’t mind a developing an allergy to avocados and quorn.
Actually you’ve reminded me I’m allergic to (some) cats. I’ll add it to my list.
Thanks for sharing
LOL, poor you! I think I’ll pass listing my ailments, suffice to say I had encephalitis and a broken wrist last week ?!
Thanks for the follow on Twitter, I had to follow you when I realised you were the “burlesque” man on Marketing Milk, nicely put, smiling thinking of of it still.
Elle
Elle, I had to look up encephalitis and it looks REALLY serious!!! A broken wrist isn’t exactly fun either
No problem for the follow. I knew immediately I’d have to follow you if you thought my feather fans nonsense was funny. Sometimes my sense of humour gets me into trouble. I water it down A LOT online.
Mend well !!!
Burlesque man?! Okay, where exactly do I go to see that!!!
Hehe, it was a comment I left on another site http://marketingtomilk.wordpress.com/2010/09/14/no-nudity-clause/
Lol, you’re getting a reputation !
Although I daresay you probably had one already.
I love a good laugh and I do know what you mean by watering it down, some people just don’t get it.
Oh by the way I too am allergic to cats, all of them!
I still have a never ending sore throat despite having a tonsillectomy at 32, can you imagine 32. Mind you a sore throat is better than permanent tonsillitis, a small mercy!
I could list all my ailments but it would take over your blog. Suffice to say my “case” has been featured in the medical journal at least twice and I’ve been in a coma but saw the light and came back just to prove doctors wrong.
A coma??!! No way! Like I keep saying… this is not a competition, but that has to be a contender for winner?! LOL.
Clearly you’re not in a coma right now, so I feel it;s OK to be a little light hearted about it.
I like cats but they (most of them) make me cry and not in a wussy emotional way either.
I do love a GSOH though. Sadly missing from the internet, don;t you think?
