Someone I thought had disappeared off the face of the blogosphere (oh how I dislike that word) appeared again out of thin air. Turf Dad is back! Well, by the looks of his archive pages it looks like he’s been back for a while, but anyway, if you don’t know him, go check out his new (new to me) blog: Bottled Love
The choice of music below was inspired by this post about Justin Bieber on a school night – In which I find out that Turf Dad has been to tons of rock concerts! (And I’ve only ever been to one.)
Down Under – Men At Work

Vegemite is nasty!
Never tried it. And it took me years before I realised the guy was singing ‘vegemite snadwich’.
Too hysterical!
I became a fan of Colin Hay last year – yes I’m a little late to the party! Of course, I’ve heard “Men At Work” for years (okay, decades) but until the last few years I was not particularly good at matching bands with their songs and if you had said Colin Hay was the lead singer for “Men At Work” I would have just said, “Huh?”
I love Colin Hay’s acoustical work and my 16-year old has even taught himself to play a couple of the songs on his guitar. Particularly love “Overkill” and “Waiting For My Real Life To Begin.”
I haven’t been to a ton of concerts. But in college I did see Harry Chapin and Jimmy Buffett (at least I think it was Jimmy Buffett…hard to tell with all the “smoke” hanging in the air). Interestingly enough, that was an INDOOR concert. Never understood why the whole audience wasn’t busted.
Lately I’ve seen the Newsboys, Michael Buble (he gives an awesome concert) and Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons (took my mom to see them for her birthday, it was a lot of fun!)
I always love your music posts Dave.
Anne, I knew about Men Down Under from much earlier but I had no idea who Colin Hay was until I watched Scrubs. I’m sure that I saw him singing ‘Hallelujah’ but I can’t find that clip anywhere so I must be wrong.
You’ve seen quite a few concerts – It looks like I have some catching up to do.
But you did remind me that I’ve seen the ‘original’ Four Tops! Ha! Original my a$$! There was only one from the original line-up. They were still good though.
Do you not love Colin Hay in Scrubs! That is one of my favorite episodes (and I am a huge Scrubs fan; I have several seasons on DVD).
My favorite version of “Hallelujah” is by Jeff Buckley. Awesome song.
