Selfish Blogger Is Dead, Long Live Selfish Blogger

by Dave on April 6, 2009

selfishbloggerdotcom_chalk_outlineSelfish Blogger dotcom isn’t really me. It doesn’t suit me and doesn’t reflect my true personality… and as an exercise in personal branding it’s something of a disaster.

I’ve always believed that if you tell people something often enough they’ll start to believe it.

The word selfish has a negative connotation and I don’t want such a direct association with negativity.

I’d hoped to convey a sense of irony in the blog title by being un-selfish and linking out to my bloggy friends (because it helps with rankings etc). But whilst the irony is obvious to me, it’s probably too early for the irony to be obvious to everyone else.

Tricia, didn’t exactly shout at me, but she made her feelings clear enough when she left me a message over at Teach My Children:

Dave,
This whole idea of not being able to comment here or at the new site may slowly make me lose my mind.

Whilst I’m pretty sure it wasn’t Tricia’s intention to make me feel like a jerk… I did indeed feel like a jerk.

So I’ve decided I’m going to keep Selfish Blogger going in its present format and have some fun with it (mostly by being un-selfish), but I’m also going to start another blog where commenting is encouraged.

That’s right, my answer to blog burnout is to have THREE blogs instead of two. That’s just genius, don’t you think?

Stay tuned.

Thank you Tricia!

Dave
