September 2009

This is another test post.

I’ve been testing over on Teach My Children because I’m having problems getting the page titles to show up in Google searches.

I’ve entered some unique post titles in order to have no competition when I go to search for the term. In theory my post should show up first in the results, and it does, but the problem is it doesn’t show up in the ‘Title’ of the search result. It shows up in the next line where the description normally is, and the site name is the title. Of course this isn’t much good if I want to get a decent position in the search engine results, and I do, so I need to fix this.

There are lots of variables but as far as I can tell, the set-up for Teach My Children is the same as Selfish Blogger, and with Selfish I have no problems.

I had started to think the problem was with Thesis, but I updated to 1.6b and that didn’t resolve the problem.

I own quite a few sites and and I’m starting to see the same problem with rest of them – all except this site.

I even have this problem on a site that uses frugal Theme, so it’s probably not the theme.

This site (Selfish) is hosted with JustHost and all of my other sites are with Dreamhost.

An expert is something I am not when it comes to these things, I only really half know what I’m talking about, but I’m now leaning toward the idea the my host is the problem here.

I’ve written this post as filler just so that I’ve got something to post and test.

What I’m expecting is that this post will show up failry quickly in a search and the title will be where the title should be, and not in the description.

If it’s not I’ll probably cry.

Here goes.
